Positive Camtec whips up a TeckStorm
Positive Camtec has unveiled the new Teckwin TeckStorm UV flatbed printer at its Sydney premises during an open day for customers.
According to Positive Camtec’s Phillip Trumble, the company has already confirmed four installations of the TeckStorm for Australia, with the first already up and running at Bearprint Screenprinting in Sydney.

A large crowd attended the open day in Silverwater, which included demonstrations of the TeckStorm printing on various media, the TeckCel Verso router cutting the numerous shapes from the media, and the new Epson GS6000 solvent inkjet printer, one of only eight in the country, printing test files to the audience’s obvious satisfaction.

Positive Camtec marketing manager Adriano Gut told ProPrint that the TeckStorm was a heavy duty printer designed largely for industrial print use. It offered, he said, an unprecedented price/quality proposition for the country’s sign and display printers.

“The TeckStorm’s print quality, at 1440dpi, combined with its ability to print on a wide range of media, including glass [with special inks], and its speed make it unbeatable value for sign printers. We’ve already had four sales confirmed, and we’re confident that will rise quickly when people see what [the Teckstorm] can do.”

The TeckStorm is a true flatbed inkjet printer utilising Xaar XJ760 6 Level variable dot printheads, with CMYK plus two white printheads to maximise colour rendition on transparent and dark media. It also features a bulk ink delivery system, eight individual vacuums under the table, sub-surface registration pins and automatic printhead height adjustment.

The new Epson GS6000, the first solvent printer offered by Epson, uses Epson’s new UltraChrome GS solvent ink with no nickel and fewer VOCs, making it more environmentally-friendly and less complex to install and use, with no ventilation and air-purification systems required. Whilst on display at the Open Day, the solvent smell was barely discernible as the machine printed high-quality images suitable for outdoor use.
